Profile

Ian’s first career was in banking. He embarked on a new career in legal costs in 2003 and subsequently qualified as a Costs Lawyer in June 2011.

Since the implementation of the Jackson reforms, Ian has gained a wealth of experience of the costs management process. He specialises in preparing Precedent H Costs Budgets, Precedent R Budget Discussion Reports and negotiating Costs Budgets in advance of CCMCs.

Ian’s costs experience is wide-ranging. He represents clients in both the justification and opposition of costs, and he is equally adept at preparing claims for costs in Legal Aid, Inter Partes and Court of Protection matters. He is routinely instructed by clients to prepare Bills of Costs in a variety of matters including Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence and Judicial Review. He also has a particular specialism in historic abuse cases.

Ian is a keen golfer and weather permitting, makes a trip to the golf course as often as possible. He is also a keen football fan.
