Senior Private Client Solicitor
Office: Winchester
Department: Private Client
Yasmin Hoque is an experienced Private Client Solicitor who specialises is Islamic Inheritance, Islamic Wills and Estate Planning

Yasmin Hoque is an SRA-regulated Senior Private Client Solicitor at Elite Law Solicitors. Based at the firm’s Winchester office, she advises individuals, families, trustees, attorneys and personal representatives on wills, trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney, estate planning, probate and the administration of estates.

Yasmin qualified as a solicitor in 2010 and brings broad legal and academic experience to her private client practice, including earlier work in litigation and as a law lecturer teaching wills and the administration of estates. She completed her law degree at Queen Mary University of London with First Class Honours and the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law’s Moorgate campus with Distinction. This combination of practical experience and academic insight enables her to explain complex legal, family and succession issues clearly.

Yasmin has a particular interest in private wealth and succession matters, including planning for individuals with family, business, property or charitable considerations. Her advice is tailored to each client’s circumstances, wishes and values, with careful attention to legal validity, practical implementation and the interests of future generations.

Outside her legal practice, Yasmin contributes to education and community initiatives through her role as a school trustee and her involvement in mentoring and climate-action projects.

Private Client and Estate Planning Expertise

Yasmin advises clients at different stages of life, from putting a first will or Lasting Power of Attorney in place to reviewing established estate-planning arrangements or administering an estate after bereavement. She considers how family relationships, asset ownership, tax, trusts, business interests, charitable wishes and cross-border elements may affect the available options and works with clients to create legally effective arrangements that can be understood and implemented in practice.

Islamic Wills and Sharia-Compliant Estate Planning

Yasmin has completed an Islamic Alimiyyah qualification and has specialist knowledge of Islamic wills, Sharia-compliant inheritance and succession planning. She helps Muslim individuals and families prepare arrangements that comply with the law of England and Wales while reflecting relevant Islamic principles, including Faraid, Mirath, the discretionary bequest, funeral wishes, guardianship, charitable gifts and the appointment of executors and trustees.

Islamic inheritance rules do not apply automatically under the law of England and Wales. Yasmin therefore considers both the formal requirements for a valid will and the practical interaction between English succession law, asset ownership, Inheritance Tax, family provision and a client’s faith-based wishes. Her objective is to produce clear, workable documents and to identify circumstances in which additional tax, trust, family or international advice may be required.

Thought Leadership, Teaching and Professional Contribution

Yasmin regularly shares knowledge on wills, Sharia-compliant estate planning, charitable giving and succession. She delivers professional webinars for MBL on Sharia-compliant will drafting and estate planning and contributes articles and commentary on Islamic inheritance and private wealth matters. In September 2026, an article by Yasmin appeared in The Guardian’s Later Life Supplement on charitable giving.

Alongside her legal work, Yasmin is involved in the wider community as a school trustee and participates in initiatives supporting mentoring and climate action. These activities reflect her wider interest in responsible stewardship, education and philanthropy.
